Our crown jewel is the Great Plains no-till drill, available for Dunn County residents and landowners. This Model 1006NT 10-foot end wheel drill is capable of handling a wide range of seeds, from alfalfa to soybeans, as well as various types of cover crops and grass seed mixtures. It’s the perfect tool for your conservation needs.

To rent the no-till drill, simply provide a security deposit of $100.00. The drill is available for a two-day rental period for $50.00 or a four-day rental period for $100.00, plus an additional $8.00 for each acre seeded. You will need to provide a tractor with 75 or more horsepower and the necessary seed. Our knowledgeable staff at Tips Tree Planting will also be on hand to assist you with setup and calibration.

Tree Planter Rental Program

In addition to our no-till drill, we also offer 5 tree planters for rent on a daily basis. These tree planters are available to Dunn County residents and landowners, and we charge a reasonable fee to cover maintenance and repairs. With our tree planting machines, you can plant approximately 5,000 trees per day.

To ensure successful tree planting, we recommend consulting a professional forester to determine if any weed control or site preparation is necessary. You may order trees from a private nursery or the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). If you choose to order from the DNR, please review the entire application to ensure your project meets the program’s requirements. The trees will be shipped from the State nursery to Menomonie, allowing for maximum use of our tree planters.

Our tree planters include two “RE-FORESTER” models, purchased with grant money from the Wisconsin Wild Turkey Stamp Program and the Ruffed Grouse Society. These models can accommodate a large root system, making them suitable for various types of tree and shrub seedlings. We also have two “Three Point Hitch” models, designed for easy maneuverability and best suited for planting pine. Lastly, we provide a fifth machine equipped with a hand hydraulic pump, ideal for small jobs and sites with long rows or trees, such as windbreaks and shelterbelts.

Tree Planting Bar

For small tree planting projects and sites where machine planting is not possible, we offer hand tree planting bars. These versatile tools are perfect for planting up to 1,000 trees and can be used when school or educational groups are available to assist you. Simply contact our office if you are a Dunn County resident or landowner and wish to use a tree planting bar. A refundable deposit is required.

Soil erosion is a significant concern for any landowner. To combat this issue, we provide mulchers that blow straw as a protective cover on newly disturbed construction sites. This protective cover not only prevents the impact of raindrops but also helps preserve moisture for the new plants. It’s an essential step for successful revegetation.

If you are a Dunn County resident or landowner and would like to rent a mulcher, please contact us. We’ll be more than happy to assist you.

Soil Probes

Understanding the fertility of your land is crucial for successful crop production. Our soil probes can help you pull a core sample of soil from your fields or other areas of land where fertility may be in question. These samples can be analyzed in a lab to determine your fertilizer and lime (pH) needs, secondary and micronutrient deficiencies, as well as preplant or pre-sidedress soil nitrate tests. Many use soil probes to meet 590 Nutrient Management requirements.

To use a soil probe, simply contact our office if you are a Dunn County resident or landowner. A refundable deposit is required.

Weed Wrench

Managing invasive woody plants can be a challenge, but we’re here to make it easier for you. Our weed wrench is available for rental and can handle plants with a jaw capacity of up to 1.5 inches. From acacia to holly, our weed wrench can assist you in removing a wide range of woody plants.

If you are a Dunn County resident or landowner and wish to use the weed wrench, please contact our office. A refundable deposit is required.
